Day Five

March 29th, 2017

It has been five days since starting this lifestyle change and I have to say, I am far from being hungry.  It is hard to eat all the points I need.  Since most fruits and vegetables are 0 points, I have added them to day and feel great.

I do seem to have changed from two large meals a day to eating throughout the day.  Its close to eating a little bit every hour throughout the day.

I have lost about 1lb per day and the only time I felt really hungry was when I went food shopping for dinner and the smells in the store was drawing me in.  I did look up a few foods and their points, which were much higher than I wanted to use.  I fought the urge, which was strong :).  I made it back home and had an apple which took care of feeling hungry.

For dinner, I made Oven-Fried Coconut Shrimp with Orange-Chili Dipping Sauce with vegetables.  AMAZING!!!  It was about 5 points per serving and since it was too good, I did have two servings.  I was still left with about 15 points left for the day.

I am not a big seafood fan, but, I do have admit, this was amazing, there was no lack of flavor.  It was very easy to make and I will definitely make this many more times.

Day Two

March 26th, 2017

So I have just completed day two.  It has been much easier than I thought it was going to be.  I did have a headache, most likely from the reduction of caffeine.

The first day and half, it was hard to not focus on points.  I have a few weight watchers items that looking at them, some seem small for the points they are associated with.  However, when I eat them, they do fill me up and I am not as hungry as I thought I would be.

It is just starting, however, everything seems good.

Have also been working on some scuba apparel – https://www.scdivingstore.com/collections/clothing

Time to Start Again

March 25th, 2017

Well, its been over two years since I have done any real diet and needless to say, without working on anything, the weight will eventually return and in my case has increased.

I have always said that 300 lbs was my max and I would do some drastic changes when I ever hit that point.  I also always hoped that I would never get to that point.

Unfortunately that is not the case.  I have noticed higher blood pressure, higher hear rates, being more tired and none of my clothes fit anymore.  I don’t want to purchase new larger clothes, since that will mental say that I have been defeated and accept the weight.

It is tough getting help to zip up your wetsuit and it almost takes two people to zip it up.  Its sad and embarrassing.

Also the added stresses of all the ads you see about diabetes, strokes, etc, so that is always on my mind.

A great thing has happened, my insurance has a pre-diabetes plan where they work with different organizations and pay for it.

I have chosen to try Weight Watchers, I have always seen their ads and see some menus that show their points, but, never really checked it out.    So today is the day, first day, weight in at 309 with clothes and I was 306.8 at home.

The plan is to eat the total amount of points you are allowed in a day, which for me I was given 60 points per day.  I started searching for foods and there are lots of foods that I used to eat that have huge points assigned to them.  So I figured I would burn through points very quickly.

I also would drink about 1 soda per day, so I was sure that it would be difficult to cut  that out.

Lets see how it goes!  Change has been overdue!

My reason for this change is to lose weight and not become diabetic.

Jan 10th

January 10th, 2014

I made an excellent Black Bean Chili and that has been a tasty dinner the past few nights.  You can click on the link to recipe that I have.  I also decided to use some of the kale that was left over from juicing and put that in.  The juicer cut it up really small, so there weren’t large chunks of green on some bites.

Today I am at 270.4 lbs and 35.7 BMI

January 7th, 2014

Since I was able to complete a 20 day juice fast and then the holidays hit, I decided that I will try to juice twice a day and have a sensible meal.

I am currently at 272lbs. I started at a BMI of 39 and today I am at 35.9, soon I will be off the obese BMI scale and listed as overweight….woooooo hoooooo 🙂

Start of a New Year

January 2nd, 2014

Well, 2013 is over and its time to get back on track. I am at 275lbs, which I only gained about 3 or 4 lbs during the holidays. That is not bad at all. I still juiced, but, I did have several meals with family and friends.

It was weird that I didnt crave cake, pie and candy. I think I may have had 1 slice of pumpkin pie. I could normally eat a whole pie in a day or two, but, I didnt have a craving to do so. I almost craved juicing more than the food I was eating.

When I am at home not doing much, I seem to drink much more juice than when I am at work and 24oz lasts me from 8am to 1pm, then a second drink will last until I get home.

Day – Twenty

December 20th, 2013

Wow, made it to day 20.  Looking from when I first started, I was thinking that it would take forever to get here, when in reality I got here quick.

I should have never started eating nuts and a salad here and there.  In the past few days, I have only lost 1 lb.  I have started to limit eating nuts and stopped eating salad.  It should be noted that I eat little dressing when I have salad.  I do not like to pour it all over.

I have to give kudos to Blenders in the Grass, they make it very easy to juice for lunch and for $6 it is a good value.

Day – Sixteen

December 16th, 2013

I did lose a very little bit (.04), but, something is better than nothing :).

With the upcoming holiday and since I have slowed on my weight loss, I will try to get at least day 20.  I will try to limit what I eat and then get back on track.

Day – Fifteen

December 15th, 2013

I think that since I started eating a few nuts, that I started to plateau.  I have noticed that since I started having nuts, that I would eat about a handful as part of my daily routine.

Overall, I feel fine with juicing, there are not as many cravings as before.
